The meeting will be held at the Palo Alto Elks Lodge, 4249 El Camino Real, Palo Alto. All members and guests are invited to attend an optional NO-host dinner prior to our general meeting. Dinner will be at 5:45 PM at The Bistro located on the ground floor of the Elks Lodge.

Important customizations. Preparing an emergency repair disk or drive, and many more topics. Sue Kayton, the Computer Doctor, will give a presentation and will answer your questions. We recommend that you read her Windows 10 recommendations before the meeting.

Computer Clinic

Slow operating system? Virus infection? Blue Screen of Death?
The Doctor is In! Sue Kayton, the Computer Doctor, will do a diagnostic and repair/virus removal clinic for your computer at our meeting. You are invited to bring your Windows laptop or desktop computer and we will attempt to get it back in good shape.
Creating an Instructional Video
Maurice Green and Robert Mitchell
Following up on last month’s demonstration of upgrading an HP laptop to an SSD drive, we will demonstrate the use of multi-track editing with added still images to produce a video of the procedure. The discussion will focus on some of the ways we could have improved the process and the final product.
Privacy
John Buck
John will lead a discussion on computer privacy based on the recent articles published in the November 2016 issue of Consumer Reports. Members are encouraged to review the articles before the meeting.
Security and Privacy Forum
Sue Kayton (The Computer Doctor) and Michael Barclay (Electronic Frontier Foundation) will moderate an open forum on computer security and privacy issues. Please go to the link below to submit your questions in advance.

Andy Marken returns to SPAUG to review some of the new and exciting developments from CES 2017.
Member’s Night
The February meeting will be devoted to short (15-20 minute) presentations by members of the club. If you have a topic you would like to present, please email a title and short description of the presentation to webmaster@spaug.net. A laptop computer and projector will be available for your use.

Smart TVs and Next Generation TVs

The Computer Doctor returns to SPAUG with a demonstration of Smart TVs and a discussion of the features of the next generation of TVs. Attendees will be encouraged to discuss their own experience with the new TV systems, especially how they feel about Smart TVs as a replacement for the desktop computer.
