Waterproof bag saves iPhone dropped into ocean

“On March 13, 2015 at approximately 11:45am, I lost my iPhone 6 plus in the water. I went kayaking on my friends company trip in Monterey Bay. Prior to the trip, I had bought a case on Amazon from Kobert International which is 4.5 star waterproof case btw and I put it around my neck. While we were kayaking I was taking photos w the case around my neck and in the pouch.

After about 25 min of paddling we made it back onto the shore. I take off my vest and no iPhone. I was truly sad. One of the workers at the kayak rental place went back to find the phone but no luck. I put my phone in lost mode and put my friends phone number as the msg incase someone found the phone. After a week of logging into the find my iPhone app, no luck. I gave up. It was done.

On May 8, 2015, I got a notification that my phone was turned on and found. (UHHHHH…say what….?!) It turns out the person who found my phone tried to put their number but I declined through my notification on my new iPhone (the replacement) and contacted the person. [ . . . ]  I [ . . . ] arranged to meet up for the phone to be picked up.

When I got to the mtg spot, the phone was in the same bag I had purchased from Amazon and it turned on!! The person who had found my phone, the couple went out to Monterey bay for kayaking and scuba diving. They found the phone in the bottom of the ocean near a rock still in the pouch. I was baffled. I had no words to explain my feelings. I didn’t know what to say or do. I couldn’t have thanked them enough.”
